On August 4, 2026, the Fredericksburg (VA) Alumni Chapter brought its signature energy and community spirit to the 42nd Annual Spotsylvania National Night Out, joining thousands of residents at the Spotsylvania Towne Centre for an evening built around connection, safety, and neighborhood pride.
Hosted by the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, this year’s National Night Out felt like a true community celebration. Families wandered between booths, kids lined up for activities, and local organizations showcased programs designed to strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement. For the Fredericksburg Alumni Chapter, it was an ideal platform to highlight its commitment to mentorship, youth development, and positive engagement.
National Night Out has always been about building trust and camaraderie, and the chapter leaned fully into that mission. Members spent the evening talking with parents, teens, and younger children about the importance of police community partnerships and how collaborative neighborhoods contribute to safer, more connected communities. Brother George Johnson noted that “National Night Out provides a platform that enhances the relationship between our organization’s community outreach by forging relationships with neighbors and law enforcement while embracing a true sense of community.”
One highlight of the evening was the chapter’s outreach to local youth. Members distributed Guide Right and Kappa League program flyers, sparking conversations with families about leadership development, academic support, and opportunities for young men to grow through structured mentorship. The chapter emphasized that these programs aim to build future community leaders who understand partnership, responsibility, and service.
The event’s large youth turnout made the engagement especially meaningful. With more than half of the estimated 4,000 attendees being young people, the chapter’s presence offered visibility and access to programs designed specifically for them. It was a successful event, providing exposure to the chapter’s youth programs and a broader platform for engaging youth in our communities.
By the end of the night, the Fredericksburg Alumni Chapter had connected with hundreds of residents, strengthened ties with local law enforcement, and expanded awareness of its youth initiatives. The chapter’s participation reflected the broader spirit of National Night Out—neighbors coming together, organizations stepping forward, and communities celebrating the partnerships that make them stronger.
