The Towson-Catonsville (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. recently traded its meeting room for the bowling lanes at Bowlero in Ellicott City, Maryland, where the Senior Brothers’ Committee hosted a brothers-only Bowling & Fellowship event. The gathering provided an opportunity for brothers to come together in a relaxed setting, strengthen their bonds, and enjoy an evening centered on the spirit of Kappa brotherhood.
The evening gave brothers a chance to step away from their schedules and simply enjoy being together. Friendly competition brought energy to the lanes, while conversations between frames gave brothers across generations an opportunity to reconnect. Whether celebrating a strike, sharing a laugh over a missed spare, or offering a little friendly advice, the brothers enjoyed the kind of camaraderie that makes fellowship an essential part of the Kappa experience.
Built around a simple theme “Fun, Fellowship and Brotherhood.”—the gathering brought the chapter’s motto, “Where Fraternalism Happens,” to life. The Senior Brothers’ Committee, under the leadership of Brother Richard Chavis, created an environment where brothers could share stories, reflect on their experiences, and strengthen the relationships that sustain the chapter beyond its formal meetings and community service activities.
The event also highlighted the important role of the chapter’s senior brothers in fostering fellowship and maintaining connections across generations. Their experiences, wisdom, and continued commitment to Kappa Alpha Psi help preserve the traditions of the fraternity while encouraging younger brothers to remain actively engaged. By bringing brothers together outside the traditional chapter setting, the committee demonstrated that meaningful fellowship does not always require a formal agenda. Sometimes, all it takes is good company, a little friendly competition, and the opportunity to spend time together.
Throughout the evening, the focus remained on building and maintaining the personal relationships that make a chapter strong. Brothers who may not have had an opportunity to connect during regular meetings were able to catch up, exchange experiences, and enjoy the company of those who share a lifelong commitment to the fraternity. The gathering reinforced the idea that brotherhood is not limited to the work accomplished during meetings or community service projects but is equally reflected in the genuine friendships and personal connections developed along the way.
For the brothers of TCAC, the evening was about much more than strikes and spares. It was another example of what makes the chapter a place “Where Fraternalism Happens.”
