On May 2nd, Kappa Youth Development (KYD), in partnership with the Upper Marlboro/Waldorf (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, proudly hosted its annual Achievements and Awards Breakfast to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of graduating high school seniors from Southern Prince George’s and Charles Counties. The event served as an inspiring morning of recognition, encouragement, and community support, highlighting the academic excellence and future potential of the region’s newest graduates.

A highlight of the program was the presentation of $24,000 in scholarships to deserving students, reaffirming KYD’s commitment to investing in the next generation of leaders. Through the generosity of individual brothers, chapter members, and community partners, students received financial assistance to help pursue higher education and achieve their academic and professional goals.

Scholarships were made possible through the support of Brother Reginald Spence, Jr. and Steel Point Solutions, LLC; Brother Dwight Campbell; Brother Gregory and Silhouette Kellie Waters; Brother DeWayne and Silhouette Jackie Wilcher; Brother Aaron and Silhouette Jeanette McKinney; Brother Kenneth and Silhouette Tanisha Phillips; Brother Ronald and Silhouette Grace Watson; Brother Colonel William and Silhouette Lorraine Bell; Brother Kenyatta Kerr and Lifeline; The 5 Karats—Brothers Gregory Clark, Jeff Harris, Earl Mitchell, Jonathan Davis, and Dalen Harris; the UMWAC Past Polemarches; and Kappa Youth Development.

The breakfast also celebrated the continued dedication of the Upper Marlboro/Waldorf (MD) Alumni Chapter in supporting educational achievement and community service. Family members, educators, donors, and fraternity brothers gathered to applaud the students’ hard work and encourage them as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.

The KYD Achievements and Awards Breakfast continues to be one of the organization’s signature programs, demonstrating that when communities invest in education, they empower future leaders. Through scholarships, mentorship, and unwavering support, KYD and the Upper Marlboro/Waldorf (MD) Alumni Chapter remain committed to fostering achievement in every field of human endeavor.
