On March 11-15, 2026, brothers gathered at the Eastern Province Council to celebrate a year of achievement and conduct the province’s business. This year’s council was held in Hanover, Maryland, at the vibrant Maryland Live Casino & Hotel and hosted by the brothers of the Hyattsville-Landover (MD) Alumni Chapter. The University of Maryland – College Park Chapter, the Theta Theta of Kappa Alpha Psi, and the Bowie State University Chapter, Epsilon Sigma of Kappa Alpha Psi served as the co-hosts. The event embraced the timely theme of “Chartering the Course, Navigating the Future Together.”
As brothers gathered, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and camaraderie. Visiting brothers from outside the province also joined the festivities, including Grand Board Member Jwaynza Watt, Director of Risk Management Jason Hall, Director of Undergraduate Affairs Daniel I. Nixon, and several other representatives from various provinces. Their presence highlighted the unity and strength of Kappa Alpha Psi across the fraternity.
The festivities kicked off on Thursday with a golf outing that set the tone and a warm welcome reception sponsored by the Hyattsville-Landover (MD) Alumni Chapter. The Undergraduate Leadership Conference occurred on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Over one hundred undergraduates were engaged and in attendance.
On Friday, March 13, the first general session commenced under the leadership of Province Polemarch Richard Mattox. Brothers were updated on fraternal activities, with a credential report noting 202 total votes for delegates. The session featured the eagerly anticipated presentation of the 88th Conclave Report, set for July 6-11, 2027, hosted by the Baltimore (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. Brothers were encouraged to purchase commemorative bricks for the “Walk of Achievement,” supporting the conclave’s expenses. After a successful morning session, the Province Foundation Luncheon showcased the National Kappa Foundation’s ongoing efforts, raising pledges totaling over $50,000—a testament to the Eastern Province’s commitment to advancing scholarship.
As the second general business session unfolded, new chapter-size designations were announced, categorizing chapters by membership. The day continued with a heartfelt Senior Kappa/50 Year Brother reception, honoring new members with their distinguished 50-year pins and white jackets. The evening culminated in a public meeting where new Eastern Province Pillar of the Province Awardees were recognized. Brothers Cleve Packer, Sr., and Charles Exum, Jr. received the highest honors, celebrating their unwavering dedication to the fraternity. Integral to the event were the Silhouettes, who convened alongside the brothers, blending their business affairs with engaging activities.
The Saturday morning session, led by Senior Province Vice Polemarch Paul Robinson, included the nominations report and resolutions that honored significant milestones within the Eastern Province. The Senior Grand Vice Polemarch Robert L. Jenkins, Jr. provided insights from the Grand Chapter Report, addressing key updates and future initiatives. Recognition continued at the Achievement and Awards Luncheon, where individual brothers and chapters were celebrated for their hard work and commitment. The evening closed with a banquet featuring celebrated broadcast journalist Harold T. Fisher, who captivated attendees with his reflections on service and leadership.
Throughout the council, numerous awards were presented to acknowledge the exceptional contributions of brothers and chapters alike. From the Eastern Province Awards & Achievements Committee Appreciation Award to the prestigious William Thomas Carter Alumni Chapter of the Year Award, the achievements reflected the fraternity’s spirit of excellence. As the 2026 Eastern Province Council ended, the bonds of brotherhood were reinforced, and the collective vision for the future was charted. With a commitment to service, leadership, and unity, the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi left the event inspired and ready to navigate the future and the next fraternal year together.
