Dr. DeAndre Howard is a dedicated higher education professional with over sixteen years of expertise in student affairs and academic administration. Hailing from Woodford, Virginia, he is a proud alumnus of the Caroline County Public School System, where he cultivated a strong foundation in collaboration and leadership as an only child.
Currently, Dr. Howard serves as the Eastern Province Reporter and the Eastern Province Director of the C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of leadership within the province. He also represents the Eastern Province on the National C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference Committee. As the Immediate Past Chapter Polemarch of the Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Dr. Howard led the chapter for four consecutive years, demonstrating resilience and innovation as he guided the chapter through the challenges of the global pandemic while enhancing its financial stability and community engagement.
In his professional capacity, Dr. Howard serves as the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services at Danville Community College in Virginia, where he also teaches criminal justice courses. His commitment to higher education extends to leading state peer groups and collaborating on system-wide educational initiatives.
A first-generation college graduate, Dr. Howard earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish from Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He further pursued a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice, focusing on Juvenile Justice, from Norfolk State University, which ignited his passion for supporting youth through student services.
In December 2018, he earned his Doctorate in Organizational Leadership, with a concentration in higher education administration, from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. Throughout his career, Dr. Howard has effectively managed diverse areas within higher education, including Assessment and Accreditation, Athletics, Career Services, Campus Health Services, Compliance, and Student Life, among others. His teaching experience spans various institutions, including Mars Hill University, Averett University, Longwood University, Spartanburg Methodist College, and Spartanburg Community College, where he has designed and delivered courses in criminal justice, sociology, and women’s studies across multiple modalities.
Dr. Howard’s professional and fraternal contributions have significantly advanced Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, reflecting his unwavering commitment to excellence in leadership and service.
