Robert Gleaton Seabrooks Sr. (also known as “Drip, Bobbie & Gleat”) was born August 26, 1947, in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. Living within a close-knit, loving family of six children, Robert was the eldest born to David Walter Seabrooks, Sr. and Bernice Gleaton Seabrooks. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while a member of the Hickory Hills Baptist Church in Neeses, SC. He lived his Christian principles throughout his entire life. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Walter Seabrooks Jr.

Robert attended Hickory Hill Grade School and transferred to Dover Elementary and High School, where he was the Valedictorian of his high school class. He later attended and graduated Cum Laude from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC with a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1969. While attending Johnson C. Smith during the Fall of 1967, Gleat (#5) became a member of the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc, where he faithfully served in many leadership capacities throughout his 54 years as a Kappa Man. He was a Lifetime member and loved his fraternity. One of his proudest moments occured when he received his 50-year white recognition jacket from his current chapter, the Dulles Leesburg Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (DLAC).

In 1962, a young 13-year-old seventh grader named Audrey Emma Johnson went to Rob- ert’s hometown to visit her grandmother in Neeses South Carolina for Thanksgiving. While at her aunt’s store, called “Gearl’s Place”, Audrey saw Robert, who was two years her senior. While he was playing the card game bid whist, she noticed his beautiful hands. But the two never spoke. After returning home to New York, Audrey reached out to her Aunt Gearl and asked, “who was that young man?” Next thing Audrey knew, Robert wrote her, and they instantly became pen pals. They remained pen pals for the next five years until Audrey graduated from high school, and they dated throughout their college years.

On January 3, 1970, soon after graduating from college, Robert married his soulmate Audrey and they remained married for 51 glorious years! From their union they have two children, Robert Gleaton Seabrooks, Jr. and Amaryllis Seabrooks. Robert had a very rewarding and esteemed career in government that eventually led him to Chicago, where he dedicated 19 years of service to the Department of Education. While in Chicago, Robert became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Robert eventually transferred to the Small Business Administration in Washington, DC. He served in many roles until he retired after serving 37 years with the Federal Government as Assistant Inspector General for Auditing on May 3, 2006.

After retiring from the government, Robert joined Audrey and their son Robert Jr. as the Operations Manager for Heritage Treasures Screen Printing and Embroidery. Together they traveled across the country from the east coast to the west coast promoting and selling their beautiful, customized apparel. They are staples in the community, supporting local and national church events, sororities and fraternities, the NAACP, and other community-based organizations. Additionally, Heritage Treasures provides printing and embroidery services to local schools and small business within D.C., Maryland and Virginia also known as the DMV.

Robert was a loving, dedicated, and caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He also had a very special bond with all of his family members. He was a kind, selfless person, always greeting you with a smile, willing to help others, including those in his fami- ly and his community.

On October 24, 2021, Robert gained his wings and went home peacefully to be with the Lord. He leaves to cherish his memory: His lovely, devoted wife of 51 years Audrey, their son Robert Jr., and their daughter Amaryllis. Two brothers: Eddie (Jacqueline) Gleaton and Richard Allen Seabrooks of Columbia, SC. Two sisters: Patricia (William) Franklin of Orangeburg, SC and Catherine Seabrooks of Woodbridge, VA. Three sisters-in-law: Juanita Word of Ashburn, VA, Arlene (Dexter) Marable of Richmond, VA, Irene (Robert) Thomas of South Orange, New Jersey; Two brothers-in-law: Arthur (Michelle) Johnson Jr. of Springfield Gardens, NY and James (Olivia) Ivory of Porter Ranch, CA. One aunt, Floraine England, Ashburn, VA; one uncle, Bishop Matthew (Lady Elect Joanne) Johnson Cambria Heights, NY. And a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
