Departed this life on Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was 81. A native of Washington, D.C., Mr. Fauntroy grew up in the Shaw neighborhood. He graduated Francis Grimke Elementary School, Garnet-Patterson Junior High School, and Cardozo Senior High School, where he was a member of the football and swim teams. He then entered his beloved Central State College in Wilberforce, Ohio and earned a B.S. degree in Business in 1957. He made lifelong friends and joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. while at Central. After being Honorably Discharged from the Army, he began his career in Washington, D.C. He retired in 1992 after nearly three decades of service as a management analyst at the Department of Justice.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Fauntroy; and two sons, Michael Fauntroy (Lisa) and Kevin Fauntroy (Dionne). He leaves behind five brothers and sisters, William T. Fauntroy Jr. (Camilla), Doris Ann Ball (Johnny), Rev. Walter Fauntroy (Dorothy), Raymond Fauntroy (Arlene), and Gerald Fauntroy (Renee). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Lauryn, Mia, Danielle, Logan and Brett Fauntroy; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
