Karl Otis Henry departed this life on January 27, 2020 at White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Karl was born December 21, 1966 in Washington, D.C., to the late Francis L. Henry, Sr. and the late Mildred A Brandford-Henry. He was preceded in death by his brother Kevin W. Henry.

Karl gave his life to Christ at an early age by attending Woodmore Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. In his adult years, he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Highland Park on August 14, 2016.

He received his formal education in the Prince George’s County School System. He graduated from DuVal Senior High School in 1984. He went on to enroll at Prince George’s Community College where he received an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He continued his education at Bowie State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Management. He became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated as a graduate, and was a member of the Gaithersburg-Rockville Alumni Chapter.

He went to work for Giant Food Distribution Food Warehouse in Jessup, Maryland in August 1987. Karl later became a school teacher in the Prince George’s County School System. Karl was an avid sports fan and football was one of his passions. While teaching in the school system, Karl found time to coach football. He coached several different schools in Prince George’s County and helped the team at Dr. Henry A Wise Jr. High School win several championships.

As an active and faithful member of Charles H. Wesley Masonic Lodge No. 147 and Tuwa Temple No. 228, Prince Hall Affiliated, he took great pride in participating in the continuous community service projects these organizations performed on behalf of the citizens of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties.

Karl loved his family and friends unconditionally. His son and grandchildren were the “apples of his eye”. He had an infectious personality that led people from all walks of life to be drawn to him. Karl would put the needs of others before his own needs. He never complained and attempted to carry out his life as normal as possible, even when his health deteriorated while he he received dialysis treatment.
Karl leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Antonio Proctor (Tish); four grandchildren, Aryana, Milah, Autumn and Anila Skye; one brother Francis, Jr.; and one sister Brenda; three nephews, Calvin (Natasha), Marvin and Darius; one niece Malaya; one great-niece Je’Niah; one great­nephew Coi; two goddaughters, Fredrece and Morgan; two aunts, Sara Ford and Juanita Brandford; one uncle William Shepherd and a host of other loving family and friends.
