On January 29, 2023, Brother Frank Carlton Owens, Jr. transitioned to Chapter Invisible at the age of 68 years old. Brother Owens was born in Suffolk, Virginia on December 31, 1954, to the late Frank and Doris Owens. He was a 1973 graduate of Forest Glen High School in Suffolk, and a 1977 graduate of Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Prior to becoming a licensed funeral director, Brother Owens worked for Pitney Bowes from 1980-2000 as a District Service Representative. He started his second career as a licensed funeral director and mortician after graduating from Simmons Institute of Funeral Service in Syracuse, New York in 1996. Brother Owens loved being a Licensed Funeral Director while working at Metropolitan Funeral Service in Norfolk, Virginia where he was employed at his time of death. He was a member of the Norfolk Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association. Brother Owens was also a member of First Baptist Church South Hill in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Brother Owens was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., on June 1 of 1997 with the Portsmouth-Suffolk Alumni Chapter.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda Owens, one daughter, Erin V. Owens, J.D., who was born during his previous marriage to Dr. Sallye Owens. Brother Owens is also survived by his stepdaughter, Gina Huston and stepson-in-law Alshon Huston; step-grandsons Virgillo Wilson, Danillo Wilson, and Jamari Smith.
