Suddenly on February 3, 2017. Served his country faithfully for over 37 years. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dr. Michelle Rector Hawkins; loving children, Dr. John R. Hawkins IV (Cindy Lynn) and Mercedes Hawkins (Douglas); five grandchildren; in-laws, Reid and Jeanne Rector; and numerous other relatives and friends.
