Achievement and Awards

The purpose of the Province Achievement Awards committee is to identify and recognize Undergraduate and Alumni Brothers for their accomplishments in the fraternity, communities, their campus communities, and/or their career fields. The Achievement Awards Committee also seeks to recognize the achievements of Undergraduate and Alumni chapters for their overall management and their community services projects.

Military and Veterans Affairs Commission (MVAC) Awards Nomination Guidelines

The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Military and Veterans Affairs Commission is seeking nominations for the following awards:
  • Grand Polemarch’s Distinguished Military and Veteran Service Award
  • The Dr. F. George Palmer Memorial Award Outstanding Military Veteran
  • The General Daniel “Chappie” James, Jr. Memorial Award for Military Cadet Achievement
  • The John Milton Lee “First to Fire” Memorial Award for Military Service and Achievement
The Eastern Province Military and Veterans Affairs Committee will review all nominees and select one nominee per category to represent the Eastern Province. The Province Polemarch will review the Eastern Province nominees. All provinces will have nominees to represent their provinces. The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Military and Veterans Affairs Commission will conduct panel reviews of all province nominees for each category and select one winner for 3 of the 4 categories. The Grand Polemarch will make the final selection for the recipient of the Grand Polemarch’s Distinguished Military and Veteran Award. Individual awardees will be notified by June 1, 2020, and recognized at the Military and Veterans Awards Banquet. Please ensure that the nominee meets MVAC awards criteria to include submitting a color waist-high photo of the nominee in a Kappa Blazer and tie or appropriate military uniform. Failure to meet awards criteria will result in immediate disqualification of the nomination packet. The deadline for submitting nomination packets from Eastern Province chapters is 28 March 2021.

Eastern Province

The Eastern Province, as a defined region of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., traces its origin to 1925. Earl B. Dickerson, the fifth Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi, appointed John Miller Marquess the first Eastern Province Polemarch following the adjournment of the 15th Grand Chapter Meeting in December 1925.
