Ivan Edward Johnson, Sr., of Richmond, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 28, 2025. He was born on January 17, 1940 in Richmond to Harold Johnson and Josephine Tisdale.
In 1958 Ivan graduated from Armstrong High School. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Union University on June 5, 1967. He began his career as an auditor for the Federal Reserve Bank in June of 1968 and retired in January of 1995.
He was a proud and active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity for over fifty years. Ivan joined Providence Park Baptist Church in 1982 and sang in the choir almost every Sunday. He also served as the National President of the House of Ogburn from 1996 until 2000. Ivan was listed as the Patriarch of the House of Ogburn as being the oldest male member and as President Emeritus. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ivan was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane France Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Ivan Edward Johnson Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many devoted friends.
